We’re excited to announce that we’ll be holding an Emerging Artist Showcase during the Susquehanna Folk Festival! The purpose of this special showcase is to give emerging artists/duos or groups the opportunity to be featured at the festival.
In order to be selected for one of the six showcase spots, artists will need to fill out an application and send it along with samples of your music. The deadline to submit your application is May 1, 2018. If you are not sure if the term “emerging artist” applies to you, we consider any artist of any age who has not performed regularly at major festivals or concert series to qualify.
The Emerging Artist Showcase will be held Saturday July 28th from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on the Coffeehouse Stage. Each successful showcase artist will play a 20 minute set and have their work heard by a panel of judges. The winning artist/duo or group will then be invited to play a 45 minute set on the Main Stage later in the day Saturday at 3 PM.
Since the Susquehanna Folk Music Society is a folk music festival, we ask that all performances be of an Acoustic Nature (Folk, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Country, and Light Pop/Rock). LIGHT percussion (read Djembe, Cajun etc.) will be allowed. *NO full Drum Kits please. SMALL guitar/bass amplifiers allowed if needed. PLEASE NOTE – there are only 10 minutes between performances so you need to set up quickly and total performance time cannot go over 20 minutes to be fair to other performers. Thanks!
Selected Emerging Artist Showcase artists/duos or groups will get free admittance to the festival on Saturday, July 28, 2018 and will also receive one $25 food voucher per group.
IMPORTANT! Please make sure that you have a full 45 minute set worked up before applying (in case you are the winner!).
Please submit application by May 1st, 2018. Questions? Contact Bob Martin at email@example.com
