SFMS is seeking a folklorist to do fieldwork and ethnographic documentation between January 15 and August 31, 2020. As a recently-named Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) Folk Arts Provisional Partner, SFMS is charged with surveying folk and traditional artists living and working in Dauphin, Cumberland and Lebanon counties. Our 2020 festival will feature a youth festival band, or "Kids' Academy", coordinated by traditional musician Jane Rothfield. Kids 6-16 will learn several traditional tunes by ear and then perform them on the main stage! All instruments and ability levels are welcome. SFMS presents a full calendar of traditional arts events in south-central Pennsylvania. As summer ends, we'll enjoy two more "Soundwaves" concerts (Justin Angelo Band and Rue de la Pompe) and we'll kick off our new season with Genticorum and the Old Blind Dogs.
