Meet the Masters: George Marshall of Wild Asparagus

George Marshall is one of the country’s premiere callers, specializing in New England-style contra dances. He is renowned for his knack of matching music to dance and for his smooth, concise teaching and presentation. He began dancing, playing, and calling dances in the 1970s, founding the reknowned contradance band Swallowtail as a college student. He calls, teaches, and plays full time, touring nationally with Wild Asparagus or Swallowtail. He also produces music and dance events including a week-long February dance vacation in the Caribbean.

“Meet the Masters” are a series of artist interviews in front of a live audience. The "Meet the Masters" program is intended to give audiences the opportunity to learn about the lives and music of celebrated folk masters.
