Volunteers are valued members of the Susquehanna Folk Festival family, helping to create a fun and safe weekend for all. Hundreds of visitors will benefit from your service!

What do festival volunteers do?

Our Volunteer Opportunities page describes the roles of all the crews. Indicate your top choices on the Volunteer Application, and we'll make every effort to place you in a job you'll enjoy.

You may volunteer for one, two or three days. Shifts will be 4½ hours long. In scheduling, priority is given to those who can volunteer for two days. You will receive a free admission for the day of your volunteer shift and are welcome to enjoy the festival for the entire day of your shift. Come early, stay late!

When you are accepted as a volunteer, you will receive an e-mail with the details of your assignment.

What are the requirements to volunteer?

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Not responsible for the care of children during your shift
  • Conscientious
  • Energetic
  • Courteous and polite
  • Pre-approved via our Volunteer Application process
  • Cleared to work with children, if volunteering with the Family Zone Crew

Will volunteering require much physical activity?

Most tasks require some degree of physical activity: standing, walking, lifting or other types of exertion. See the Volunteer Opportunities page for job descriptions, and indicate your ability on the Volunteer Application.

Do I need to make a volunteer deposit?

Many festivals require prospective volunteers to make a deposit to ensure their commitment. We’ve decided not to require that, but instead trust that our volunteers are prepared to take on the task they have agreed to. We’re counting on you!

What if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel after having been accepted as volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator by July 15th if possible.

What if I want to be scheduled with a friend or family member?

Enter that person's name on your Volunteer Application.

What should I bring with me?

Volunteers may work indoors or outdoors. Bring a water bottle, hat, sun block, insect repellent, rain gear, comfortable shoes, and flashlights.

What should I not bring?

Please don’t come to your shift with pets, tobacco products, alcohol, or a child whom you are responsible for.
